Addiction can be absolutely crippling to someone. Waking up every day thinking about whatever it is that you are addicted to, thinking about it all day, and then going to sleep thinking about it is not living, it’s existing!
There are many addictions such as:
- Drug Addiction
- Alcohol Addiction
- Gambling Addiction
- Food Addiction
- Many more…
Addiction takes over people’s lives and people can become very isolated. All someone wants to do is whatever they are addicted to. If they are not doing it then there is a high possibility that they are obsessing over it.
Addiction can change people’s behaviour drastically. People can become secretive, manipulative, and deceitful. This can have a big impact on the person with the addiction and also on their family and friends. Family and friends can become very worried about the person with the addiction which will cause added stress and anxiety to everyone concerned.
Depending on the financial situation, if money runs out then finding ways and means to get money for what they need can be a difficult task and some people so desperately want what they are addicted to that they will stop at nothing to get it, even if it means stealing from family. This then brings shame and guilt for the addicted person making it even more difficult to stop doing or using what they are.
Asking for help can feel difficult but it is a step in the right direction. Coming to a counsellor can help you with your addiction. Talking to me about your addiction and some of the things you may have done may feel shameful to you but I am non-judgemental and very accepting of people just as they are no matter what. I also have a good knowledge of the 12 step program.
If you would like to come and see me about your addiction then please call or text 07975590268 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to book an appointment. I also offer online counselling.
